Aquaculture department of Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) under Tribhuvan University was established in 1995. Department has three major activities – Teaching, Research and Out reach. It offers undergraduate courses to Agriculture and Veterinary Science. It started Master program in Aquaculture since 1999 and PhD program in Aquaculture from 2010. Department runs national and international research projects through faculty members focusing on Small-scale aquaculture to resource poor and commercial aquaculture in Nepalese context. It has established outreach sites in Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts of Nepal. Department has good linkages and collaboration with national and international institutes in the field of aquaculture and fisheries. It always keeps open for new venture with new institutions.
